17 Killed in Tragic Bus-Truck Collision in Chevella
A devastating road accident in Chevella, Ranga Reddy district, claimed at least 17 lives and left several others injured when a TSRTC bus collided with a gravel-laden truck near Mirzaguda village on the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway early Monday morning.
The impact was so severe that the front section of the bus was completely mangled. Around 70 passengers were onboard, with many sustaining critical injuries. Emergency services rushed the victims to Chevella Government Hospital, while those in serious condition were later shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. He directed officials, including Chief Secretary K. Several ministers were dispatched to the accident site to coordinate rescue and relief operations, while additional ambulances and medical teams were mobilized.
Leaders across the political spectrum, including BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, expressed shock and extended condolences to the bereaved families. They urged the government to provide all possible assistance and quality treatment to the injured.
The tragic collision has reignited concerns over road safety and driver fatigue on the busy highway, prompting authorities to re-examine traffic regulations and long-haul transport safety measures.
