Class 10 Student Suicide Case: Delhi Police Summon More Teachers as Probe Widens

The Delhi Police on Monday summoned three additional teachers for questioning in connection with the tragic suicide of a 16-year-old Class 10 student, who allegedly jumped to his death from the Rajendra Place Metro Station on November 18. The move follows earlier questioning of two teachers on Sunday, as authorities intensify efforts to determine whether persistent harassment by school staff played a role in the incident. Several students have also been called for statements.

The school, located in central Delhi, has already suspended four staff members pending investigation. Meanwhile, the grief-stricken parents of the victim have demanded strict action, alleging that their son had been mentally tortured by certain teachers for months. Speaking to ANI, the student’s father described him as academically outstanding and highly accomplished. “My son was very intelligent; he won many medals and certificates. He repeatedly told me over the past four months that teachers were troubling him. I never imagined he would take such a step,” he said, urging authorities to ensure justice.

The student’s mother echoed the sentiment, calling for the harshest punishment for those responsible. “My son must get justice so that no other child faces what he went through,” she said.

The teenager reportedly left a suicide note accusing teachers of constant humiliation and severe mental pressure. According to the FIR filed on November 18, he often told his parents that certain teachers insulted and scolded him over minor issues. The parents claim they made multiple complaints to the school administration, but no corrective action followed.

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has announced the formation of a special inquiry committee and said the government is reviewing whether schools are adequately monitoring students’ mental well-being as per CBSE guidelines. The government has assured full support to the family and emphasized the need to address mental health concerns among students urgently.
