Telangana High Court Asks for Reason of Leader’s Arrest!
Telangana High Court issued notices to Rachakonda police asking them to reveal their stand within two weeks on a plea which was charged them with ill-treating a Bharatiya Janatha Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader.
The petition was filed by BJYM leader PM Sai Prasad who was arrested by Neredmet police for making allegations on corruption practices against TRS MLA Mynampalli Hanumanth Rao.
The petitioner in the plea said that the MLA had a grudge on him for questioning his corrupted practices. The petitioner was spreading offensive messages on social media against MLA.
Sending offensive messages was punishable offence under 66-A of the IT act. But as the Supreme Court struck down the section, police cannot arrest a person under this act.
Petitioner’s counsel P Sashi Kiran, after taking the court’s permission, had sent notices to the MLA, his follower Sira Rohit, and to the Malkajgiri Magistrate.
As a person cannot be arrested under this act, he asked for Rs 5 Lakh compensation and a probe!
