Twitter India Bans Accounts Of Pakistan Embassies
The official Twitter accounts of Pakistan Embassies in UN, Turkey, Iran and Egypt have banned by the social media platform in India. The development came not so long after Twitter withheld the account of the national public broadcaster in Pakistan - Radio Pakistan.
After Twitter in India withheld these official accounts, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Twitter to restore these accounts with immediate access. The move comes after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting earlier blocked 16 YouTube news channels, including six Pakistani ones, for spreading disinformation related to Indian national security, foreign relations, and public order.
YouTube channels are spreading false and unverified information to create panic, incite communal strife, and disturb public order in India, according to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
According to the report, YouTube channels based in Pakistan were used in a coordinated manner to spread false information about India, including about the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir, and India's foreign relations in light of the situation in Ukraine. The content of these channels has been observed to be completely false, and sensitive from the perspectives of national security, sovereignty, and integrity of India, as well as friendly relations between India and other countries.
Moreover, India has earlier called out Pakistan for propagating fake news through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
