Dinner Break at Napier, India Need 117 More Runs To Win
Indian Opener Shikhar Dhawan became the second fastest Indian to complete 5,000 ODI runs. India scored 41 without loss in nine overs at Mid-Innings break, 117 more runs needed for victory with 10 wickets in hand. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 wickets while Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets as India bowled out New Zealand for 157 runs in 38 overs in the 1st ODI of the 5-match series in Napier. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson top-scored with 64 runs knock but other batsmen failed to put up an impressive show after opting to bat in the series opener.
Virat Kohli's Team India, riding high on the success after historic series (Tests & ODIs) win against Australia, now facing New Zealand's strongest possible line-up. With the focus entirely on World Cup preparations, the visitors will hope to find a perfect middle-order combination despite their 1st-ever bilateral ODI series win on Australian soil. MS Dhoni might have regained his form with a hat-trick 50's but it will be a completely different challenge for the Indian veteran against New Zealand's experienced pace attack.
