Bill Gates Calls India Inspiring, PM Modi At The Grand Challenges Annual Meet 2020

Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates during the address of the Grand Challenges Annual Meeting 2020 on Monday said that the research and manufacturing capabilities of India will be critical in the fight against COVID-19.

Bill Gates also said that India is “very inspiring” as it has made huge strides in improving the health of its people in the last two decades.

The Grand Challenges Annual meet has already commenced and will convene virtually from October 19 to 21, bringing together policymakers and scientific leaders, calling for deepened scientific collaborations in solving global health problems, with great emphasis on Covid-19 with an “India for the World” framing.

“Since the pandemic began, scientists have shared 1,37,000 viral COVID-19 genomic sequences,” the Microsoft Corp co-founder said. Even the pharmaceutical companies are cooperating on production ways that really have never been seen before, he added.

He also suggested that there should be test kits that can be spread out into the community and can be stocked in medicine cabinets, community centers and pharmacies.

PM Modi during his speech said that hope we keep using our collaborative spirit for individual empowerment and collective wellbeing.

“We want to help other nations enhance their capabilities in vaccine manufacturing and immunisation,” added PM Modi.
