COVID 19: US State Department Urged People To Reconsider India's Visit
The US has asked its citizens to reconsider their travel to India due to the increased spread of Covid-19.
A Level-3 travel health notice was issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for India, noting a high virus prevalence level.
"Your risk of contracting Covid-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine," the US State Department said in a statement on Tuesday.
It also said that citizens plan to visit other countries to review the CDC's recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers.
In November last year, the CDC had issued a Level-1 Covid-19 notice for Americans traveling to India.
In the last 24 hours, 285,914 infections have been reported in India, crossing the 40 million mark. The number of deaths has continued to rise to 491,127.
Until now, over 37.3 million patients have recovered from Covid-19. As the country is currently experiencing its third wave of the pandemic, the number of daily cases is unlikely to reach 400,000. However, the Omicron variant's fuelled the wave is spreading rapidly in rural districts.
