Call to Extend Hyderabad Metro to Sangareddy Gains Momentum
Chintha Prabhakar has urged the Telangana government to extend metro rail connectivity from Hyderabad to Sangareddy, highlighting the region’s rapid urbanization and increasing commuter demands. The MLA emphasized that improved public transport infrastructure is essential to support the growing population and ease daily travel challenges faced by residents.
Sangareddy has witnessed significant expansion in recent years, with rising residential developments and increased economic activity. However, the lack of efficient mass transit connectivity to Hyderabad has led to heavy dependence on road transport, resulting in frequent traffic congestion.
Prabhakar also raised concerns over the slow progress of the National Highway-65 widening project, which connects Hyderabad to Sangareddy and beyond. He pointed out that delays in completing the project have worsened traffic conditions, causing inconvenience to daily commuters and affecting overall mobility in the region.
The proposed metro extension, if implemented, is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease congestion, and provide a more reliable commuting option. It could also boost economic growth by improving accessibility and attracting further investment to Sangareddy.
The demand reflects a broader push for expanding urban infrastructure in line with the region’s growth. As Hyderabad continues to expand outward, integrating nearby towns like Sangareddy into its metro network is increasingly seen as a necessary step toward sustainable urban development and improved quality of life for residents.
