NZ Flight to China Lacks Permission, Turns Back Mid-Air!

An Air New Zealand flight to Shanghai turned back after realizing it doesn’t have permission to land in China. This has happened after several hours of the journey on Sunday.
Flight NZ289 carrying about 270 passengers left Auckland shortly before midnight on Saturday only to return about 10 a.m. on Sunday (2100 GMT Saturday).
The airline revealed that the technicality meant the particular aircraft operating the service did not have Chinese regulatory authority to land in China.
Neither China's foreign ministry nor the civil aviation administration responded on time. Air New Zealand apologised to passengers and said a special service would fly them to Shanghai at 11 p.m. on Sunday (1000 GMT).
Frustrated passengers expressed their disapproval on the negligence of Chinese authorities on social media.
