13-Year-Old Boy Dies in Alleged Accidental Firing at Lucknow Birthday Party
A 13-year-old boy, Unais Khan, tragically lost his life following an alleged accidental firing at a birthday party in the Krishna Nagar area of Lucknow on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 6:40 pm at a residence in LDA Colony, within the jurisdiction of the Krishna Nagar police station.
Unais, a Class 7 student of Stella Maris School and captain of his school’s football team, had attended the party with three friends. During the gathering, a firearm reportedly went off, and the bullet struck Unais above his left eye. He was immediately rushed to Lokbandhu Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Lucknow South) Nipun Agarwal, three minors present at the party have been taken into custody for questioning. The firearm involved has been seized, and CCTV footage from the residence is being examined as part of the investigation.
Police stated that preliminary information suggests the weapon was being handled while videos were being recorded when it discharged accidentally. However, the victim’s family has disputed this claim, alleging that the shooting was intentional and carried out by an adult.
Unais’ father, Zameer Khan, said his son had initially been reluctant to attend the party as he was observing roza. Family members expressed grief and demanded a thorough investigation.
A formal case has been registered based on the family’s complaint, and authorities have assured strict legal action following the outcome of the inquiry.
