Maintaining safety standards while constructing any project is very important and some people believe that the government should define code for building projects and the minimum acceptable quality. Every project should be checked and evaluated at every stage starting from design to fitting electrical wiring. Approval of construction of any project should be withheld if any inferiority is found at any stage. Else one would find rare accidents at construction sites or after building the whole project.
The same situation took place in Hyderabad, In an unusual accident, a 24-year-old woman died in Hyderabad after a concrete slab from the metro station fell on her on Sunday. Reportedly, the incident took place at Ameerpet metro station of Hyderabad, according to NVS Reddy, the MD of Hyderabad metro rail " The sharp edge of the piece fell on a young lady's head from about 9 meters height and she, unfortunately, succumbed to the head injury while she was being taken to a nearby hospital," said Reddy. Hyderabad Metro Rail officials have started inspecting to check if there are any cracks at other stations.
The victim is identified as Monica, 24-year-old a resident of KPHB of Hyderabad. She was a housewife and her husband is a TCS employee. As soon as the incident took place she suffered head injuries and was unconscious she was rushed to the nearby hospital by HMR Officials but she died during treatment.
Monica from Mancherial in Telangana got married one and half year back. As per the investigation, she was traveling with her cousin sister to enroll her in a hostel in Ameerpet, which is one of the busiest stations in the city where the metro and MMTS crisscross. Many people climb the stairs daily to catch trains but also lakhs of people use the main road that passes from underneath the elevated station.
Not only Monica but two other persons were also slightly injured. Citizens started a protest at the spot accusing officials for negligence and demanded action against officials.
