A boat drown in Congo.. 142 people missing.. 13 died .. ongoing rescue operations

The recent departure of a boat carrying 150 passengers has drowned in Congo. Congo President Felix Tshisekedi made a statement on Thursday. "13 passengers were killed in a boat in the Lake Kivu. Another 142 have been missing," he said. He said the initiative was taken to find their whereabouts.

The boat accident seems to have occurred on Monday. However, on Wednesday Congo officials have been informed about this. The Congo President claimed that he was deep condolences to the families of the victims of the accident. About 150 people were injured in the accident, he said via Twitter.

Rescue actions are ongoing in the drowning area of the boat. One person told the media that passengers did not get life jackets while sinking the boat. The accident is happened due to the presence of heavy equipment along with about 150 passengers on board. The United Nations has already announced that they are willing to assist the Congo government in relief efforts.

Such accidents are often in Congo. The main reason is the use of old model boats without following the rules. In 2015, a boat was broken down in the Congo River, and 100 people went missing. The lakes and the Congo River are most commonly used to go to major cities and move objects.
