An Indian Air Force aircraft which took off at 12.25 PM from the Jorhat Assam went missing today. The last contact with aircraft could be made only at 1300 Hrs The Aircraft was heading to the Mechuka Advance Landing Ground, the landing belt located in the Eastern Himalayas in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The point where the aircraft was supposed to land in Arunachal Pradesh is located at about 30 km distance from the Indo China border.
Soon after the news came out that the aircraft has gone missing, speculations of different kinds were rife due to the close proximity of the landing point with China border, however, nothing substantial has come out of it. The aircraft was an An-32 Aircraft among the fleet of Indian Air Force and was carrying 13 people onboard some of which were the crew members. After, taking off the aircraft remained in touch with the Air traffic agencies for about 35 minutes and after that, the contact with the aircraft could not be established.
The Antonov An-32 was a military transport air vehicle. The aircraft could not be located by the Indian Air Force even after the search operations carried out by the Sukhoi Su-30, fighter jets, and C-130 Hercules special operations vehicles. Ground level forces were also sent to find any clue about the aircraft. Even considering the worst case scenario, the wreckage of the aircraft could not be traced.
This is not the first time, an Indian Air Force Aircraft has been found missing. Earlier also, an AN-32 transport aircraft of Indian Air Force lost contact with the ground over the Bay of Bengal carrying 29 passengers onboard.
