Amazon Appointed Former Pepsi CEO as their Board Member
Former PepsiCo Inc Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi was appointed as its director by Amazon.com Inc on Thursday.
She is the second woman to be named to the board, after naming Starbucks Corp's Chief Operating Officer Rosalind Brewer as a director last month.
Amazon's eleven-member board now has five women including Nooyi, Brewer, Jamie Gorelick, Judith McGrath, and Patricia Stonesifer. Nooyi will also be a part of the audit committee of Amazon's board.
Nooyi resigned as the CEO of PepsiCo in October 2018 and as the chairman of the beverage-and-snack maker last year.
Last year, Amazon promised to include women and minority candidates in its board search, after shareholders complained about its lack of diversity.
