Be Careful with Aadhaar, Heavy Fines to Levy!
You can’t do a single thing without an Aadhaar card as it became a generic identity for every citizen living in India. Government is coming up with a rule where you should have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 if you misquote Aadhaar number now!
Government has taken this decision because it is trying to interchange PAN (Permanent Account Number) card to Aadhaar for all the basic and high-value transactions.
Minister of Finance said that there 1.2 billion people in India who have Aadhaar card but only 220 million people have the PAN.
An official said, “it is also proposed that before passing a penalty order, a person shall be heard.” The rule will be effective from 1st September 2019.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Therefore, for ease and convenience of taxpayers, I propose to make PAN and Aadhaar interchangeable and allow those who do not have PAN to file Income Tax returns by simply quoting their Aadhaar number and also use it wherever they are required to quote PAN”.
