Biennial Elections For Legislative Council In States Of AP And TS
The election commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for Biennial election for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Legislative Councils while the by-election to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from Visakhapatnam Local Authorities’ Constituency will be held on March 22. Counting of Votes will take place on March 26.
Last year on October 3rd due to the demise of sitting member Dr. M. V. V. S. Murthi for Visakhapatnam Local Authorities constituency one vacancy popped up in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. The term of Murthi was up to August 11, 2021.
The ECI also informed that the Model Code of Conduct will imply soon after the immediate effect in the concerned Constituencies. The term of office for Sitting members of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council: East-West Godavari Graduates- Kalidindi Ravi Kiran Varma, Krishna- Guntur Graduates- Boddu Nageshwar Rao, Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Vishakhapatnam Teachers-Gade Srinivasulu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh are due to expire on March 29.
Similarly, the term of office for sitting members of Telangana Legislative Council: Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates- K Swamy Goud, Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Teacher-Paturi Sudhakar Reddy, Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers-Polla Ravinder are due to expire on March 29, while the term fir Hyderabad Local Authorities- M S Prabhakar Rao will expire on May 1.
