The Telangana Police have registered a case against a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and his son, who had returned from the UK, for not following quarantine protocol. The DSP's son has been tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, they are under home isolation. The health ministry on Monday confirmed that 467 members are tested positive for COVID19 and 9 people have died.
According to the police, DSP SM Ali didn’t inform about the arrival of his son and him to the authorities, even after it was made mandatory. Also, he failed to be in quarantine for 14 days. DSP and his son have also attended a few social gatherings before they were put in quarantine. The officials who came to know the news later quarantined both of them as mandated by the state government.
SM Ali is currently working as a sub-divisional police officer for Kothagudem town in Telangana. The police booked a case under IPC section 188 (disobedience of public servant's order). Currently, the DSP, his wife, son, a few police home guards and gunmen who were on duty are kept in quarantine.
While the government is taking serious measures and trying to avoid the community spread of COVID19, even the educated people are ignoring the rules and behaving recklessly, putting others in danger. People are demanding the government to take serious action on DSP, his son, and others who are violating quarantine protocol.
