Chemical Explosion At IDA Bollaram In Sangareddy

Seven workers were injured when a reactor burst at unit one of Vindhya Organics at IDA Bollaram in Sangareddy district, today afternoon. The accident took more than 5 fire engines and more than 3 hours to bring the fire under control. As per the sources, the explosion caused when chemicals were being mixed in the reactor and the blast was heard some 2 km away from the area. The roof of the factory was blown away and walls were damaged very badly and the glass from the windows was thrown across the area.

Thick black smoke absorbed the area around. As per the close sources, following the blast in IDA the managements of other factories in the same area took steps to cool down the boilers on their premises and workers, not only the affected area but also other factories in the same area panicked and ran.

The injured people were shifted to a private hospital for treatment. It was heard that the condition of two persons is serious. MLA G. Mahipal Reddy rushed to the accident place and examined the condition at the factories and said that holding the negligence of the factory management and Department of Factories are responsible for the accident, Mr. Mahipal Reddy assured justice for the injured people from the management and said he would take incident to the notice of higher officials. SI, S. Chandrasekhar Reddy also visited the accident site and examined the conditions.
