Eight Year Old Hyderabad Boy Climbs Highest Mountain in Australia
An eight-year Hyderabad boy, Samanyu Pothuraju has added another record to his name by climbing the highest mountain in Australia, Mount Kosciuszko. Samanyu achieved this feat on December 12 along with a team of five, including his mother Lavanya and sister.
Samanyu Pothuraju told the media that “so far, I have climbed four mountains. Now, I am preparing to climb Mount Fuji in Japan.” He also revealed his future plan to become an Air Force Officer. The boy developed the interest in mountaineering during a school event.
His mother Lavanya said “For every summit, our team members plan a cause. This time we planned to support Telangana handloom weavers by wearing their clothes while climbing the mountain.”
Earlier this year, Pothuraju, along with his team scaled Uhuru peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest peak in Africa. He unfurled the national flag at a height of 5,895 meters above the sea level on April 2.
