Elon Musk, Bill Gates And Apple Among Others Hacked In Bitcoin Sacm

The official Twitter accounts of Billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates and prominent personalities such as Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kanye West were compromised on Wednesday as Twitter calls it one of the most confounding hacks the platform has ever seen.

Accounts were hacked to giving instructions to people to send cryptocurrency to the same bitcoin address. The tweets were however removed throughout the afternoon, shortly after being posted.

“Everyone is asking me to give back,” a tweet from Mr Gates’ account said. “You send $1,000, I send you back $2,000.”

“It was a “co-ordinated” attack targeting its employees “with access to internal systems and tools,” twitter said. “We know the hackers used this access to take control of many highly-visible (including verified) accounts and Tweet on their behalf,” the company said in a series of tweets.

Twitter claims that they have taken significant steps” to limit access to such internal systems and tools while the company’s investigation was ongoing.

Meanwhile, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey wrote, “Tough day for us at Twitter. We all feel terrible this happened.”

Twitter took to prevent verified accounts from tweeting at all same time. Password reset requests were also being denied and some other “account functions” disabled.
