Federal Judge Blocks Trumps Policy
Los Angeles: The madness of immigration policy took a halt when US Federal judge blocked President Trump’s policy of sending back people to Mexico who is waiting to get the protection granted by the state. On Monday Judge blocked the policy of returning asylum seekers back to Mexico. Judge also commented that the Department of Homeland security has taken undue advantage of their status.
Richard Seeborg US District judge in San Francisco marked a stopping sign for Trump’s immigration policy of sending people back who are seeking the benefit of asylum through the US border with Mexico.
Rights groups welcomed the ruling on Monday, saying the return policy known as Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) failed to provide adequate safeguards to protect asylum seekers from persecution.
The court strongly rejected the Trump administration's unprecedented and illegal policy of forcing asylum seekers to return to Mexico without hearing their claims remarked Judy, Deputy Director of the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project.
There was no immediate reaction from the Department of Homeland Security or Trump on the ruling, which can be appealed.
