Fire Breaks Out in Ladies Hostel in Alwal, 10 Hospitalised
In yet another fire-related incident in Hyderabad, a blaze broke out at a ladies hostel in Alwal on Saturday night, leaving at least 10 women hospitalised due to breathing difficulties caused by heavy smoke. The incident occurred on the fourth floor of a residential building housing the hostel.
According to officials, the fire originated when an air conditioner in one of the rooms caught fire, leading to thick smoke spreading rapidly across the floor. Alerted by the smoke, hostel inmates rushed out of the building to safety. Their timely response helped prevent any fatalities.
Fire department personnel reached the spot promptly and managed to douse the flames before the fire could spread further. However, several inmates complained of breathlessness and uneasiness after inhaling smoke and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Doctors said the women were kept under observation and their condition was stable. Authorities confirmed that no major injuries were reported. A preliminary assessment suggested that an electrical malfunction in the air conditioner may have triggered the fire.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for regular electrical safety checks and fire preparedness in hostels and residential buildings. Officials said further inspection would be carried out to ensure compliance with safety norms and prevent similar incidents in the future.
