Highlights Of PM Modi’s Address At UN ECOSOC
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, addressed the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in which he reiterates India’s commitment to multilateralism and the need for UN’s reforms to reflect today’s realities.
It was India’s first occasion and for PM Modi to address the broader UN membership since India’s overwhelming election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council. The annual High-level Segment includes a diverse group of high-level representatives from government, private sector, civil society and academia.
PM Modi also said that India has also been of helping nature and was the first one to stand for its neighbors at tough times. PM Modi also said that India has always responded with speed and solidarity in times of Ebola, earthquakes, cyclones and COVID-19.
PM Modi talked about India looking forward to achieving Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. He also engrossed the attention to the motto ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas, Sabka Vishwas’ - meaning ‘Together, for everyone’s growth, with everyone’s trust’. This resonates with the core Sustainable.
Modi assured that India has always been a keen supporter of the UN’s development work and the ECOSOC. India also contributed to shaping the ECOSOC agenda.
