Honour Killing: Telangana Girl Killed by Her Parents for Inter-caste Marriage
A 20-year-old Telangana girl was killed by her parents for marrying a youth of different caste. The incident occurred in Kalamadugu village of Mancherial district.
Police said P. Anuradha's parents brutally killed her and burnt the body and threw the ashes in a stream, with the help of some other relatives.
The incident was occurred on Saturday night but came to light on Sunday after Anuradha's husband A. Laxman complained to the police.
Laxman and Anuradha are both residents of Kalamadugu village who were in love. As Anuradha's family didn’t accept this, they fled to Hyderabad and got married at Arya Samaj temple on December 3.
After 20 days, the couple reached the village on Saturday. After knowing this, Anuradha's parents and other relatives attacked Laxman's house and forcibly took away Anuradha.
Police investigations revealed that Anuradha’s parents took her to a place near Mallapur village in Nirmal district and killed her. They allegedly burnt the body and dumped the ashes in a stream to destroy the evidence.
Police have arrested Anuradha's father Sattenna and mother Laxmi.
Earlier, Pranay Kumar, a Dalit youth, has gone through the same. In that case, the killer was hired by Pranay's father-in-law Maruti Rao.
This kind of things will not be repeated only if the court will take a strict decision on honour killings.
