Hyderabad Flooded By Heavy Rains Overnight, Authorities Issue Warnings
After days of torrential rain, several parts of Hyderabad continue to receive heavy rainfall causing traffic jams and waterlogging in the city.
Streets were seen submerged in flood water while vehicles were being swept away in various parts of the city. The whole city was left devastated as Floods and heavy rains continued.
The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, has issued a weather warning on Saturday, saying that starting from thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and heavy rain were ‘very likely’ across Telangana.
Some areas received in excess of 150 mm of rain, just a little less than the 190 mm reported on 14 October while it was also reported that a few of the places may see intense spells of rain, the IMD added. It also issued a rain alert up to 23 October.
The GHMC authorities and NDRF team were in action rescuing people trapped inside the buildings. Traffic movement was affected at the Moosarambagh Bridge after water stagnation following heavy rains.
Meanwhile, 50 people had lost their lives due to heavy rain and flash floods and early estimates showed losses at around Rs 6,000 crore.
