Hyderabad Juvenile Sentenced to Double Life Imprisonment for the First Time
This is the first time that a juvenile got sentenced to double life imprisonment for sexual assault and murder of a 10-year-old boy.
The 17-year-old boy was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 5 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for aggravated penetrative sexual assault and under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder.
He was also sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for unnatural offense, 10 years for kidnapping and 7 years for the disappearance of evidence under various sections of IPC.
According to Telangana Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy, this is the first judgment of its kind in India where a juvenile is punished strictly.
Two years ago, the accused had taken 10-year-old along with him saying that they can play together. The victim was taken to the terrace of a government school, where the accused committed unnatural rape on him and then killed him brutally by hitting on his head with an iron pipe.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar announced Rs 20,000 reward for the officer for investigating the case.
