As a result of the global recession, the Great Resignation is likely to continue in 2022 in India, with 86% of employees planning to resign in the next six months, according to recruitment agency Michael Page.
About 61% of employees in India are willing to accept a lower salary or give up a pay rise and/or promotion to focus on improving their work-life balance, happiness, and overall well-being.
"According to our data, not only has it already been taking place for the last 2 years sparked by the global pandemic 2022 will only see it intensify," Michael Page stated in its report titled The Great X.
Additionally, the report suggests the trend may continue across markets, levels of seniority, industries, and age groups.
Employees tend to resign for various reasons, including a change in their career role or industry, unhappiness with their salary, career progression, or dissatisfaction with company strategy or direction.
The report also found out that the Indians lead in the slab of 12 nations surveyed, where employees plan to quit their current jobs. This is followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Southeast Asia.
While employees in the public sector are more willing to quit their jobs than in the private sector, this is followed by energy and natural resources, travel/tourism, manufacturing, retail, etc.
