Today, India is celebrating its 87th Air Force Day. The celebrations will be done at Hindon base in Ghaziabad near Delhi. Every year, the Indian Air Force (IAF) showcases its spell-binding aerobatic display and latest technologies that it has acquired. IAF also sheds light on the road ahead.
This year, it is special as the Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh will receive 36 long-awaited Rafale fighter jets in France. The Air Force will also showcase its Chinook and Apache helicopters that it acquired from the United States. The IAF Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa and senior officials of the three-armed forces will grace the occasion.
The Indian Air Force was established in 1932. Today, it stands fourth amongst the air forces in the world in aircraft assets. The main purpose of the Air Force is to secure Indian Airspace. During the time of conflict, it conducts aerial warfare. It has participated in several crucial wars and landmark missions.
