India Now Seventh Worst-Hit Country In World

With a tally of over 1.90 lakh cases of coronavirus, India has now become the 7^thworst-hit country, according to World health organization.

India registered its highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases on Sunday with 8,380 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 1,82,143, while the death toll rose to 5,164.

Today, that is on June 2 is the first day of Unlock 1.0 announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The lockdown is now limited only to containment zones for a month till June 30 and states are free to resume normal life outside containment zones.

The US is the worst-affected country in terms of cases with 17,16,078 infections, followed by Brazil, Russia, UK, Spain and Italy.

Health experts say many people with no or mild symptoms likely didn’t get tested and note that many died in residences for the elderly or in their own homes also without being tested for the virus.
