Indian passport ranking improves in last 5 years
Indian passport has been ranked 66th by the 2019 Passport Index. The ranking is based on an analysis of the access various passports have to countries around the world, with a passport's "visa-free score" representing the number of countries its holder can visit visa-free or with visa on arrival.
India has shown improvement in the past few years. Ranking 66 from the 77 positions it had in 2015 is commendable and what is worth mentioning is that with this Indian passport holders will have a visa-free entry in 25 countries and 35 nations allow visa on arrival.
This, in turn, proves that by every passing year more and more countries are welcoming Indians probably due to their capability to spend and don't suspect them anymore. As per sources, it is also because they now tend to believe that Indians travel for leisure or business and return back home.
Despite all this India still lacks behind many and have a long way to go in terms of strengthening of its passport.
