Indians Are Not Happy With U.S. Embassy
There has been a lot of fuming among Indians in the queue for U.S. visas, while the U.S. New Delhi Embassy launched a 12-day visa program to encourage people to apply. However, social media announcements left many Indians fuming. As a result, they have faced long delays in obtaining visa interviews to travel to the United States. Getting Indian visas for Americans has become easier and faster than getting visas for Indians to the United States. Indian visa appointments currently take almost 1,000 days to schedule.
The H-1B and L-1 are popular non-immigrant work visas. In October 2022, the U.S. embassy in India scheduled around 1 lakh appointments for H and L visas for workers and their families. Despite their efforts, it would be better if they considered B1/B2 visas as well. Many families must wait until mid-2025 to get an appointment to reunite with their families.
As per reports, a presidential panel issued a memo to the U.S. State Department to reduce visa appointment waiting times to a maximum of 2 to 4 weeks for countries like India with heavy backlogs. A senior U.S. embassy official said last month that the visa processing time is expected to mark a specific decrease by mid-2023.
