India's first MotoGP race will take place in Uttar Pradesh.
The first MotoGP race in India will take place at the Buddha international track in Greater Noida on September 22 and 23. A spokeswoman for the state government said this.
Navneet Sehgal, who is the additional chief secretary for sports, said that people from all over the world would be able to watch the bike race event on many different media platforms. He said that the exciting competition with high-tech race cars would help 'Brand UP' get a better reputation.
After Formula 1 left the country in 2013, this means that a big-ticket racing event is coming back.
A state government spokesman said that Chief Executive Officer of Drona Sports Carmelo Ezpeleta, who owns the business rights to MotoGP, met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur a few months ago to talk about the chance of a bike racing event.
Yogi Adityanath had then promised the company that he would help in any way he could.
India's first Grand Prix (GP) motorbike race started here.
In September of last year, top MotoGP officials went to India to sign an MoU with Indian race producers Fairstreet Sports (FSS), who have the same rights as MotoGP in India.
Sehgal said that the foreign event will help UP become even more known around the world as a modern, forward-thinking state.
"The tourist and hospitality business will get a boost. About 276 names from around the world will be at the event, which will make buyers interested in what UP can do," he said.
During the event, people from all over the world will be given ODOP (One District, One Product) gift baskets. Sehgal said that this will give the bold plan of the state government a name.
