Infelicitous Occurrence in Virginia

On Friday afternoon an unfortunate incident struck when a public utility employee opened fire on the public workers and utility buildings at the city municipal centre at Virginia Beach, in Virginia.

At least 12 people were killed and several others were wounded, according to Virginia Beach Police Chief James Cervera, adding that the culprit was fatally shot by the police. The suspect was handling a 45-calibre handgun, with a piece of silencer equipment and was refilling the gun with the bullets as he crept in the building.

A police officer was targeted who was shot but was saved because of the bulletproof jacket he was wearing, going away with just a wound. Although the exact reason for the mass shooting was not known, the aggravated gunman was declared dead in the hospital.

Mayor Bobby Dyer described the day as a traumatic in the past of Virginia Beach, adding that it is quite gut-wrenching as the deceased people were friends, neighbours, colleagues and co-workers.
