There have been many rumors floating for a few days about the extension of 21-days Lockdown in India after 14 April. Well, here’s the whole story behind it.
The country has recorded over 4200 coronavirus cases, of which 111 people have died. The state of Maharashtra, which includes the financial hub Mumbai, harbors over 700 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Also, numbers all over the world have been increasing at a rapid pace.
The latest reports say that Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting with 16 Ministers on the possibilities of continuing the lockdown.
Indian-origin researchers at Cambridge University made a lockdown plan especially for India that states that lockdown has to be done in 3 phases for an efficient lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus. The first phase being of 21 days, then 28 days being the longest and the third one of 18 days. There should be a gap of 5 days in the consecutive phase.
Likewise, in the second lockdown also, Kirana shops, medical shops and shops selling essential goods will be open but restaurants, food courts will be closed as they have the potential to spread the virus.
But it’s not yet official and no formal news has been announced till now. It will only be cleared by 14 April, after looking at the condition of coronavirus in the country, if the lockdown needs to be extended or not.
