Lufthansa Flight to Hyderabad Makes U-Turn After Landing Denied

A Lufthansa flight en route from Frankfurt to Hyderabad was forced to return mid-air after it was reportedly denied landing permission by Indian authorities. Flight LH752, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, took off on Sunday afternoon from Germany and was scheduled to land at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. However, it abruptly turned back and landed again in Frankfurt around 5:30 pm local time.
Passengers were left bewildered when, about two hours into the journey, the flight crew announced they were returning to Germany. A passenger traveling from the U.S. to visit her mother in Hyderabad told PTI that no detailed reason was provided beyond "Hyderabad hasn’t given permission to land." Once back at Frankfurt, passengers were offered overnight accommodation and informed that their flight was rescheduled for the next morning.
While Lufthansa has yet to release a formal statement explaining the diversion, a spokesperson for Frankfurt Airport confirmed the aircraft’s return. Indian aviation authorities have also not commented on why the clearance was denied.
Flight tracking websites like FlightAware and Lufthansa’s own portal showed real-time updates of the flight’s diversion and return. This unusual incident has raised questions about air traffic coordination and regulatory communication between international airlines and Indian aviation authorities. The situation continues to be monitored as both Lufthansa and Indian officials are expected to clarify the reasons behind the flight's aborted mission soon.
