Maneka Gandhi Receives A Show-Cause Notice

Addressing a Muslim rally in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur from where Maneka is contesting the Lok Sabha elections 2019. She told the Muslims in Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh to vote for her, if they wanted her to get their work done after she wins from the constituency. It's all giving and take, isn't it? She remarked.

Union minister Maneka Gandhi was on Friday issued a show-cause notice after she kicked off a major controversy.

Gandhi claimed that she will win with or without the support from Muslims. This is important that she’s winning because of the love and support of people. But if my victory is without Muslims, the things will become sour. Then when a Muslim goes to Maneka for his work, she would just let it go, how would it matter anyway, It's all giving and take, isn't it? She is seen telling a small crowd of supporters.

Sultanpur's District Magistrate issued the notice after the Election Commission took cognizance of the matter and asked Gandhi to explain her remarks.

Gandhi is contesting from Sultanpur, which is the parliamentary constituency of her son Varun Gandhi. While the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) shifted Gandhi to Sultanpur, her son was given a ticket from Pilibhit.

This is the second time in the last week that Maneka has landed herself in a controversy.
