Two squadron Leaders were killed on February 1 when a Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed on its take-off run at HAL airport, Bengaluru. The crash came four days after an Indian Air Force's Jaguar fighter plane crashed in Kushinagar, UP, on January 28.
Samir Abrol, 33, and Siddhartha Negi, 31, were taking the fighter plane for an acceptance test flight after it had been upgraded. The aircraft hustled along the runway before it hit the wall and was exploded. Both the pilots were able to eject but still got killed in the accident. One of them fell on the plane debris and the other was rushed to hospital but died there.
Garima Abrol, wife of Samir Abrol has expressed her will to join Air Force. Now, she has cleared the Services Selection Board and will join the Indian Air Force in January 2020. She will be trained from Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana. This announcement was made by retired Air Marshal Anil Chopra. In his tweet, he called Garima ‘woman of exceptional substance’.
