In a view to create better health opportunities and care professionals, the Home Secretary and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care have come out with a new Health and Care Visa will be launched this Summer.
Alongside, it was announced that Immigration Health Surcharge will be exempted that earlier was made for health and care staff, and will now be permanently exempt from this charge.
Both the Home Secretary and Health and Social Care Secretary cooperate together to develop the Health and Care Visa that would demonstrate the government’s commitment to deliver for the NHS and wider health and care sector.
Home Secretary Priti Patel said, “We are indebted to overseas health and care professionals for their tremendous contributions, not just in saving thousands of lives throughout this crisis, but for the vital role they play year-round”.
One of the major highlights of the new card is that it comes with a reduced visa application fee compared to that paid by other skilled workers.
Visa extensions and the creation of the bereavement schemes by state and immigration department have always been in favour of the frontline healthcare staff.
From now onwards, those who apply via the visa and their dependents will be exempt from the Immigration Health Surcharge and it will apply to eligible roles within the health and care sector.
