Newlywed Indian-Origin Man Shot Dead in Front of His Wife in US
Washington: In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old newlywed Indian-origin man, Gavin Dasaur, was shot dead in front of his wife in a suspected road rage incident in Indiana, USA. The incident occurred as Dasaur and his Mexican wife, Viviana ZaMora, were on their way home.
Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD) Officer Amanda Hibschman stated that officers responded to a shooting report just after 8 pm at an intersection on the southeast side of Indy city. They found Dasaur on the ground with at least one gunshot wound. ZaMora, who identified her husband, said she held him as he bled out while waiting for the ambulance.
Dasaur, originally from Agra, had married ZaMora on June 29, just over two weeks before his death. Witnesses reported that the shooting stemmed from a road-rage incident involving Dasaur’s black Honda and the suspect’s Chevy. The suspect, initially detained, was released after further investigation and consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, suggesting possible self-defense.
The investigation continues, with cell phone footage showing Dasaur approaching the other driver with a handgun. As Dasaur switched the gun between hands and yelled at the Chevy driver, the driver responded by shooting him three times, resulting in Dasaur’s immediate collapse.
ZaMora expressed her grief and condemned the shooting, describing her husband as a hardworking man who always helped others and aimed to provide for his family.
