No More Tolls? - NHAI Plans to replace tolls with radio frequency identification technology
Tolls have often frustrated many with an unnecessary accumulation of traffic and making the condition even worse during holiday seasons or festivals when travelers had to wait on long queue near the toll increasing the travel time and causing frustration.
However, good news for people often traveling from one place to another is that you overcome this issue National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is coming up with a new plan which will allow no longer wastage of time on waiting in a long queue.
Radio frequency identification is the technology behind this new concept being implemented. Under this, a new 'Onboard Unit ' will be installed in four or more wheeler vehicles. So whenever this vehicle crossed one city and enters another this onboard unit will identify it and the money will get deducted from the commuter’s bank account directly.
While this is already being implemented on Mumbai and New Delhi highway, depending on the outcome of this experiment its implementation at all other toll will he decided. This will really help the travelers and also help in reducing the travel time to a certain extent which will be lauded by all if successful.
