Orange Seller Won Padma Shri!

Harekala Hajabba, an orange seller from Karnataka, has won the prestigious Padma Shri Award, India's fourth-highest civilian honor, for building a school in the village to educate the poor! He is providing education for the poor children in his village of Newpadapu for a decade in a mosque. The 68-year-old man was standing in line at a ration shop when he heard the news that he had been chosen for Padma Shri.

"Harekala Hajabba was in a line on a ration shop when authorities informed him that he got #Padma Shri," Indian Forest Services officer Parveen Kaswan tweeted. "This fruit seller from Dakshin Kannada is educating poor children in his village of Newpadapu from a decade in a mosque. Doing all the efforts including spending his savings," he wrote.

According to the sources, Hajabba managed to save money from his meager earnings to educate the poor children. Also, there is a reason behind Hajabba doing this. He said that a foreign couple came to him and asked the price of the fruits he was selling. As he doesn’t know English, he failed to understand what they were speaking which made the couple leave the place, without buying fruits.

"I could not talk in anything besides Tulu and Beary language. I felt very bad when I was unable to understand the language and felt no one in my village should face a similar situation. I realized that communication has the power to convey and understand what we want and bring people together," he said. Well, in the age where people are thinking to save just for their kids and their luxuries, a man thinking about the whole village and poor children is something we must appreciate!
