Phase 6 of Lok Sabha Elections to Take Place on Saturday
The second-to-last phase of the Lok Sabha elections will occur on Saturday. It will cover 58 constituencies across six states and two Union territories, including all seven seats in Delhi. This will be the sixth phase of the seven-phase elections.
Polling will take place in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 seats in Haryana, eight seats each in Bihar and West Bengal, six seats in Odisha, four seats in Jharkhand, and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir. The polling in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri, postponed in Phase 3, will also be held during this phase. Additionally, 42 Assembly constituencies will vote tomorrow. Voting will begin at 7 am and end at 6 pm. So far, voting has been completed in 25 states and Union territories, covering 428 out of 543 constituencies.
889 candidates are competing in the 58 Lok Sabha constituencies. The high-energy campaigning for this phase ended on May 23. Key candidates in this phase include BJP's Manoj Tiwari and Congress's Kanhaiya Kumar in North East Delhi, Maneka Gandhi in Sultanpur, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, BJP’s Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Naveen Jindal, Rao Inderjit Singh, BJP's Dharmendra Pradhan in Sambalpur, BJP’s Sambit Patra, and Congress’s Raj Babbar.
After this sixth phase, the final phase of elections will be on June 1, with results announced on June 4.
