Russia Bars Entry To US Vice President And Other Prominent US And Canada People.
Due to sanctions over Ukraine, Russia issued travel bans to US Vice President Kamala Harris, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and dozens of other prominent Americans and Canadians.
The Russian foreign ministry said the travel restrictions on 29 Americans and 61 Canadians -- which also includes defence officials, journalists, business leaders from both countries -- would remain in effect indefinitely.
The US list includes Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, ABC News television presenter George Stephanopoulos, and the Russia-focused Meduza news site's editor Kevin Rothrock.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby and Deputy Secretary of Defence Kathleen Hicks are among the US defence officials.
Cameron Ahmad, who serves as director of communications to PM Justin Trudeau, and Canadian Special Operations Forces Commander Steve Boivin, heads the list of Canadians.
According to the foreign ministry, the list includes people responsible for "Russophobic" policies in the two countries.
Russia had earlier banned Facebook and Instagram which form part of Zuckerberg's Meta empire, calling them "extremist" organisations.
