Student Deported For Extra Working-Canada
An international student Jobandeep Sandhu, studying in Canada got deported for working too much. Sandhu was studying in Canada and driving to support himself and his tuition fees.
An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer pulled Sandhu at the side of highway 401 for a routine traffic stop. Sandhu was driving a commercial vehicle between Montreal and Toronto.
He was handcuffed and arrested by the police, Sandhu was shocked as he had no criminal record and was driving within speed limits, and apparently, those weren’t the problems. The problem raised while checking drivers long book which revealed that his maximum work hours were exceeded.
There is a law in Canada about the working hours of a student, as according to them studying must be the priority. But for Sandhu, working was the only option he could carry on his as well as his brother’s studies, as back in India his parents couldn’t afford.
When Sandhu was arrested he was only 10 days away from getting a diploma for mechanical engineering.
