The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to auction50 of its immovable properties worth ₹24 crores and which will be out to auction within few days. However, Andhra Pradesh government has kept the decision in abeyance.
TTD Chairman Y V Subba Reddy has justified the trust’s decision saying the sale of properties in remote areas was within its purview.
The state government directed the TTD to reconsider its decision and hold a discussion with stakeholders like religious elders, opinion makers, section of devotees to decide whether these properties can he used for the construction of temples and other religious activities.
Meanwhile in Tirupati, YSRC MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said the TTD had sold around 100 temple properties when the TDP was in power.
Two teams have been made to entrust the task of conducting the auction of properties, finalisation of successful bidders and remitting the sale proceeds to the TTD account.
