Three Terrorists Killed In an Encounter At J&K
Three terrorists were killed on Thursday morning in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The encounter broke out in Kellar area in the south Kashmir district.
The security forces have also recovered weapons from the encounter site. The identities of the terrorists killed in the encounter are yet to be ascertained.
According to the reports, the search operation was jointly launched by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Army and the Jammu and Kashmir police in the early hours today.
“Hiding terrorists opened fire at the security forces in the Yarwan village of Keller area during a cordon and search operation. Three terrorists were killed in the resulting encounter,” a police officer said.
Jammu and Kashmir police earlier tweeted, “#Shopian #encounter update: Operation is in the #advance #stage. Searches are going on at the #site of #encounter. Details will follow.”
Meanwhile, another exchange of fire is underway inYaroo area of Handwara in Kupwara district, Kashmir. The area has been cordoned off.
