Tissue Note Sparks Bomb Scare on Air India Flight, Confirmed as Hoax

A bomb threat aboard an Air India flight triggered panic in the early hours of Friday after a handwritten message was discovered on a tissue paper. The alarming note, stating “There is a bomb on the flight,” was found by a crew member while the aircraft was stationed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport around 4:00 am.
The discovery led to immediate action from airport security. Authorities launched a full-scale emergency protocol, including a comprehensive search operation of the aircraft. Passengers and crew were subjected to strict checks, and the area was secured as bomb squads and other emergency personnel were mobilized to verify the threat.
However, after thorough inspection and investigation, officials concluded that the threat was unfounded. It was determined to be a hoax, and no explosive devices or suspicious materials were found on board.
Responding to the incident, Air India released an official statement: “A non-specific security alert was detected on one of our aircraft. Standard security procedures were duly carried out, and the aircraft has been cleared for the next flight. Air India accords top priority to the safety and security of its passengers and crew.”
While the incident caused temporary disruption and fear, it also underscored the airline’s and airport’s quick response capabilities in handling potential threats. Authorities are now working to trace the source of the note and determine whether it was a deliberate attempt to disrupt operations or a misguided prank.
