A devastating fire engulfed a private Volvo bus in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, early Friday morning, leaving at least 20 passengers feared dead. The Kaveri Travels bus, carrying 43 people including two drivers and two children, was en route when flames suddenly erupted, believed to have started from the front portion of the vehicle.
According to officials, 23 passengers, including both drivers and two children, were rescued, while the remaining 20 are feared to have been charred to death. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, giving passengers little time to react. About 12 people managed to escape through the emergency exit, and several injured survivors were rushed to the Kurnool District Hospital for treatment.
Emergency services, including police and fire personnel, swiftly reached the scene and launched rescue and cooling operations. However, by the time the blaze was brought under control, the bus had been completely gutted. Harrowing visuals from the site showed the charred remains of the vehicle, underscoring the intensity of the fire.
