India’s first indigenously built engineless semi-high speed train, Train 18 which is capable of running at a speed of up to 160 kmph has again been a target of Stone pelting.
Miscreants pelted stones at the new Train 18 during its trial run on Friday (February 1) in New Delhi, barely a month after a similar incident, officials said.
As per the officials, the incident took place in New Delhi. "On reaching New Delhi station, the escort party were informed about stone pelting. The second coach from the front was hit near Sadar area under DLT (Delhi Lahori Gate) post. "A railway servant present in T-18 informed the escort party that a stone hit the window glass of coach No.188320 of T-18," a Northern Railway official said.
Fortunately, no one was hurt and despite the search carried out in the trains vicinity there were no suspects found and no one was caught or arrested. The train was reaching New Delhi to begin its trial run to Allahabad.
Also, a similar incident happened in the past. Earlier, stones were pelted at the train on December 20, 2018, during a trial run between Delhi and Agra.
