Two Telugu Students Killed in UK Road Accident

A tragic road accident in Essex, United Kingdom, claimed the lives of two Telugu students, one of whom hailed from Hyderabad. The accident occurred on the A130 Dual Carriageway near the Rayleigh Spur roundabout early Monday morning. The victims were part of a group of nine friends and roommates, all residents of the Ilford–Barking area, who were on their way to Southend-on-Sea for an outing.
One of the deceased was identified as Rishiteja Rapolu (21), a student pursuing higher studies in the UK. His family resides in Boduppal, Hyderabad. The second victim is also suspected to be from Hyderabad, though official confirmation is awaited. According to reports, two of the critically injured students were airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The accident caused massive traffic disruption, with the Essex Fire and Rescue Service closing the carriageway for several miles between Sadlers Farm roundabout and Rettendon Turnpike. Local media, including the BBC, highlighted the severity of the crash.
Essex Police confirmed that two men, aged 23 and 24, who were driving the vehicles involved, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. They remain in custody while investigations continue.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Telugu community in the UK and India. Families of the victims are devastated, and student associations have begun coordinating with authorities to provide support. The tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of road accidents abroad, especially among young students pursuing their dreams far from home.
